The flowing "tatewaku" design depicted in this piece is one of the traditional yusoku patterns, which have been used in the attire of aristocracy for approximately 1,400 years.


Within the design, luxurious embroidery of hanabishi and Go-san no kiri can be seen, indicating that this combination was once used in garments for the highest-ranking members of the nobility.


This obi was designed to pair with the furisode, the formal attire for unmarried women.
